Post Conference Tour

What better way to experience the stunning snow-capped mountains, ancient forests, waterfalls, glacial valleys and the unique braided river systems of the South Island than by jetboat? Join us for an exhilarating journey through the
magnificent glacier-fed Dart River valley.
The journey will include a short coach trip to Glenorchy and Paradise for a nature walk, where a knowledgeable guide will enliven and entertain with commentary on the surrounding beech forest, the local flora and fauna and fascinating colonial and Maori history of the area. Barry Lawrence of the DoC Wakatipu Area Office will provide an insight into the unique braided river ecosystem and Dart River/Beech forest ecosystems.
Jet boat action follows with a trip
up the Dart River where you'll be awed by the surroundings whilst navigating the ever-changing shallow channels of the braided river system. Your jet boat crew will stop along the way to highlight points of interest and discuss the natural and cultural significance of this exceptional environment.
At just $100 this tour is at least half price – and includes transport, jet boat ride and a sumptuous buffet lunch at The Glen Royden Lodge.
The coach departs from Queenstown's
Rydges Hotel for Glenorchy at 8:30am,
and returns 2.30pm for those wanting to depart Queenstown
Airport on Friday afternoon to meet connecting flights.
Remember! It will be winter in the mountains this time of year. Please bring appropriate clothing and footwear for a guided walk through the aptly-named Paradise region. A pair of binoculars is highly recommended to take in the mountains, forests, waterfalls and glacial valleys, not to mention the local birdlife!
